Welcome Back BBQ
This event was initiated in 2005 and proved to be so popular that it will be an annual affair every September. May the sun shine upon us!

Fall Turkey Dinner
This event has been a Deer Lake tradition for years. It is sponsored, organized, prepared and served by the Men's Group - with help from friends both male and female. Proceeds are donated to a current fund-raising project.

Men's Christmas Breakfast
The Men's Christmas Breakfast started out as Breakfast at Bill's, when one of our long-standing members used to host it every year. When Bill moved into a smaller place, we wanted to call it Breakfast with Bill, but he declined the honour, so we gave it the the current name. It's the same great breakfast, just a different name and a different venue every year. Good food, good fellowship and resounding renditions of favourite Christmas carols make this a special time for all who attend.
Women's Christmas Breakfast
The women were a little slow in organizing a Christmas breakfast, but when they did in 2005 it was so popular it's likely to become as much a tradition as the Men's Christmas Breakfast. The challenge, as you can see from the pictures, is finding a home large enough to accommodate everyone!

Church Mice
This annual pre-Christmas get-together is a long-time tradition with Deer Lake's women. They gather at someone's house one evening to package cookies in brghtly wrapped tins. Then, before Christmas, the tasty gift packs are hand-delivered to shut-ins. It's such an easy way to make someone's life a little brighter - and it's fun, too. Of course!
Gingerbread Houses
Gordon Gibb inroduced another pre-Christmas event to Deer Lake: the Gingerbread Houses. This is a great way to get the whole family involved in a constructive (and tasty) activity. The houses are built on a Saturday and left on display for after Sunday worship the next morning. Everyone starts with the same kit, but the creativity and variety in the different designs that emerge is always a wonder to see. Gordon is no longer with us, but we remember him every year with this popular family event.

Men's Retreat
Once you've been on a Deer Lake Men's Retreat you generally don't want to miss one. Of course, ou have to be a man. Women have signed up, but this is strictly for men. And there's always a waiting list. Picture a cabin (sometimes rustic, sometimes far from rustic) in a natural setting in South-west Beautiful British Columbia. Picture twenty men armed with tools and steak and beer and wine. Picture a work party, a thought-provoking organized discussion, an adventure outing, games, conversation, quiet time, and lots of food. That's the Men's Retreat.
